Holidays, Transitions, & Turmoil
With the fun of the holidays also comes the disruption to our regular routines, the heightened strain on our nervous systems, and the potential for emotionally taxing meltdowns. For children and teenagers who have been affected by trauma, this time can prove to be particularly challenging. Most traumatic experiences happen during a time of transition. This can leave a lasting impact of fear on a child’s perception of future transitions and during celebratory times where there is an inconsistency of schedules.
If teachers and parents supporting these children and teens are unaware of this intricate dynamic, the outcome for everyone involved can be devastatingly disappointing, difficult, and disheartening.
Join this webinar to learn more about what is behind these traumatic responses. Learn strategies and techniques to implement before, during, and after the holidays (both at school and at home) that will help minimize the turmoil. The holidays can indeed be a time of joy and fun…it simply takes a deeper understanding of the challenges they can pose along with what preemptive actions can be taken to ensure a season filled with of love, joy, and happiness.
